The APA has partnered with elite athletes from our national basketball and netball teams to urge Australians of all ages and abilities to return to sport gradually after the long COVID-19 lay off. These videos cover pre-game warm ups, strength and conditioning and specific exercises to avoid common injuries. Athletes have been urged to take precautions to avoid injuries as sporting restrictions are eased across Australia. It’s critical that people who return to play sport or start exercising more — at the grassroots right through to elite sports — understand that this can lead to injuries if they don’t have a properly graded training approach. The Australian Physiotherapy Association, in conjunction with Australian Opals and Sydney Kings basketballers and Australian Diamonds netballers, has put together a social media awareness campaign focusing on common sports injury prevention warm up exercises.
